I was given reference imagery for what they wanted to accomplish, and within a weekend had put it all together. The most difficult part was replicating the ‘crumpled paper unfolding to become the My Favorite Murder’ idea, but I was able to cut up the logo into individual letters in photoshop, then line them all up in after effects. The trick was taking a static stock photo of crumpled paper, masking it out to various shapes, then animating the static image rotating within that mask as the mask itself rotated, and then posterizing the time to emphasize the DIY/xerox machine/stop-motion aspect of it all.
